Tiny Pleasures #345: Tree Shadows
The leaves dance on my notebook as I sit in the dappled shade with a view of the sea. Maybe they'll inspire some art.

It's not everyday your offspring end up in a mural. I walked down the laneway next to the art gallery to find her band being very cool on a big wall. She's the little bass player on the right. If you're into metal music you might like the band Otrera.
I don't know what this garden tool does, but I am so pleased the designer put the yellow circle on the bolt so it looks like some kind of industrial tropical bird.
The addition of lemon zest to a savoury sauce brings a whole new flavour dimension. This evening's red vegetable sauciness became extra tasty with a few slices of zest. After cooking they appear as lemony of tongues to be fished out before serving.
There aren't a lot of vineyards in Ballarat, so it's always a treat to taste one I haven't tried before. Nintingbool Vineyard is about 10km south-west of Ballarat, on the way to the little town of Smythesdale, where I grew up. Their 2017 Pinot Noir is a beautiful example of Victorian Pinot Noir. Quite savoury
I partook in a crêpe-off on Tuesday with Rob, my bass player and fellow food lover. I made my French recipe, he made his Hungarian one and we taste tested with an array of toppings. They were both good. The French a little richer, the Hungarian lighter. Now I have two recipes to choose from
A walk beneath the trees by the creek is a fine way to smooth the transition from day to evening, especially in the company of a friend. There's something about walking and talking that makes the conversation more honest and open and rewarding. I took the photo on my way home, hence only my shadow,
It's a beautiful day at the back beach at Queenscliff. While the water is a whisker on the chilly side, but lovely and envigorating. And the drying off in the sun on a fluffy towel is heavenly. The first swim of the season and summer has officially begun.
The photo doesn't do this evening's dramatic sky justice. Brilliant light where the sun landed against a dark, brooding sky, accompanied by the mad screeching and flapping of a flock of corellas.
The sun is shining, puffy clouds float across the sky and a gentle breeze tickles the leaves in the trees. One couldn't ask for a more glorious day.
