This probably just looks like any old floor tile to you, but for me it has become a tile of joy. For the five years I have been living in this house, the tile in the doorway between my kitchen and studio (the two rooms I use the most) has been cracked. I’d wedged a piece of chocolate foil in the gap to stabilise it, and had stopped noticing every time I walked over it that it wobbled and made a little noise. Last week I had a new tile glued into place and only then did I discover how nice the absence of wobble and crack is.
