They shouldn’t exist. It’s too late in the season. But the tenacity of the broad bean cannot be overestimated. These tiny beans have done their best to grow into April, but the cold weather is coming so they have been picked. Popped out of their pods, with their shiny mowhawks in vibrant green. They may be minuscule but the crunch and freshness of these little beans is quite remarkable.
