Art doesn’t have to be grand to be wonderful. In some ways the tiny pieces are all the more skilful because of the precision required in both execution and composition. It is a gem by Ballarat artist Holly Would, who is clearly a mistress of the tiny brushes. I love the composition – the sweeping circle of yellow, like the a tiny sun holding up a purple sky, with a divinely pretty flower in the jug. There’s a real joy in it – in the simplicity, the bold colours, and the beauty.
